The Protected Areas Programmefocuses on the designation, management, and restoration of protected areas across Saint Kitts and Nevis. It aims to conserve biodiversity, cultural heritage, and ecosystem services while supporting sustainable livelihoods and eco-tourism.There are four officially declared protected areas:
Central Forest Reserve National Park – Encompasses the lush rainforest around Mount Liamuiga.
Royal Basseterre Valley National Park – Protects vital freshwater ecosystems and wetlands.
Booby Island – A nesting site for birds
Nevis Peak - Encompasses Nevis’ lush rainforest

Southeast Peninsula Marine Parks
Keys Marine Park – A marine protected area safeguarding coral reefs and coastal habitats.
Salt Ponds and Sandy Point Reef
Nag’s Head Nature Reserve – Located on the Southeast Peninsula, known for its dry forest and scenic cliffs.
These areas are crucial for marine biodiversity, including coral reefs, mangroves, and fish nurseries.
