National Coastal Management Strategy 

St. Kitts and Nevis developed a national report on integrated watershed and coastal area management, highlighting: 

  • Coastal erosion 
  • Marine pollution 
  • Habitat degradation 
  • Climate change impacts like sea level rise and flooding 
  • Key coastal habitats include mangroves, seagrass beds, and coral reefs, which are under pressure from tourism and land-based pollution 
GEF CReW+ project – Advancing Wastewater Management in St. Kitts 

As of August 19, 2025, field activities have officially begun for the CReW+ Constructed Wetlands Pilot Project at the green space in Taylor’s Housing. Led by Lands & Surveys, the Department of Environment, and project contractors, this initiative showcases how nature-based solutions like constructed wetlands can: 

  • Enhance wastewater treatment 
  • Safeguard public health and the environment 
  • Strengthen climate resilience in St. Kitts and Nevis
