The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) takes place every year on May 22. It is the United Nations-sanctioned international day for promoting awareness around biodiversity issues. This year’s theme is “Our Solutions Are In Nature.”
The Department of Environment is encouraging all of us to do our part and find ways to conserve, preserve and protect our resources. Efficiency in the use of a natural resource must be balanced with the need to maintain ecosystem functions and resilience.
Let’s all join the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) and virtually celebrate a week of Biodiversity. Through this week of action, the Biodiversity Week will create awareness about the building blocks of nature and ecosystems, drive initiatives big and small, give youth across the globe a collaborative platform, and demand bold action for people and nature.
Each day leading up to International Day for Biodiversity will be represented by one puzzle piece of the logo. Each piece of the puzzle connects to others, symbolizing interconnections highlighting our relationship with Biodiversity and Nature.
